If there is one thing I’ve noticed after spending some time on Sayo’s blog, “Working Title,” it’s that she’s a woman after my own heart. (more…)

New Martha Blog: The Crafts Dept.

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

MarthaI have to admit. I have a love-hate relationship with Martha. In my opinion, some of her projects are brilliant, timesaving, simple and classy. Just as many are impractical, tedious, expensive and, to put it the best way possible, “huh?” I know many people who swear by Martha, and just as many who swear about her.

This brings me to my latest Martha-related obsession: she’s joined Twitter and has been maintaining a personal blog that touches both on her professional and personal life. The newest branch of the Martha 2.0 enterprise, announced most recently from her Twitter account, is a blog entitled “The Crafts Dept.“, a collaborative blog on MarthaStewart.com, maintained by the crafters who work with her.

It’s refreshing to see the Martha Stewart brand embracing transparency and giving her fans and followers a peek behind the great curtain. It’s been a well-known fact for a very long time that Martha’s ideas are not all her own (as they shouldn’t be — no one can pump out cool ideas that fast!) Martha’s a business woman, a brand and an empire; it’s nice to put some faces with that. Good job, Team Martha! Keep up the good work.
